About Me

Hi Everyone!

As the oldest of 4, I started caring for children at a very young age. I started my career with children in daycare type settings while working on my B.S. in Psychology. I learned that I wanted to work more closely with families and really focus on the child's individual needs. I made the transition to working with families in their homes over 10 years ago. In that time, I have worked with non-traditional families (single parents, LGBT parents, foster/adoptive, multi-racial), working parents and stay at home parents. I have worked with typically developing children as well as those who need a little extra help (Autism Spectrum, learning disabilities, mental retardation, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, genetic disorders, mood disorders. trauma victims, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Sensory Processing issues, etc.) I am also trained in Applied Behavioral Analysis.

I am excited to finally be able to reach a larger audience and help families not only survive, but succeed! I want to talk about everyday parenting issues and really address your specific concerns. Every family, every child, and every situation is different. While there are theories, tools and techniques that are universally effective, it can be hard to figure out how to apply them to your own situation...especially in the moment!

If you are a parent, grandparent, or caregiver, lets talk! I want to create a community where people can find advice, bounce ideas, share triumphs and misfortunes! While I definitely have topics to explore, I would much rather talk about topics that are relative to YOU! Please contact me with your questions/ concerns!

Help me to create a place to learn, teach, share, vent and love!

See you soon!
Colleen Sims
